How a CRA Works-
Community Redevelopment Agencies are proven to help Florida Cities and counties revitalize blighted areas. Areas suffering from Blight and decay left unchecked will creep into surrounding areas increasing crime and poverty while decreasing property values and the safety of the community.
Here is how they work:
1- Adopt FL CRA Program - Designate area as CRA to apply revitalization best practices.
2- Determine Need - Survey area and adopt 'Finding of Need" to justify CRA program.
3- Develop Plan & Goals - Develop CRA agency and a shared vision of what the area can become.
4- Appoint CRA Advisory Board - Appoint a Board comprised of persons vested in the CRA for oversight and to offer input to local governments.
5- Create Redevelopment Trust - Create Redevelopment Trust funded by an increase in property taxes realized after a "frozen value" is set on a fixed date.
6- Prioritize CRA Projects - Create a suitable hierarchy and schedule of targeted tasks.
7- Incentiveise Investment- Attract businesses, developers, and partners with loans and facade grants.
8- Record, Report, Refine & Revitalize the CRA - The CRA plan is a living document. Its projects, progress, and costs are transparent and guided to invigorate commerce and housing, reduce crime and protect heritage.
