The Milton City Council recognized Councilman R. L. Lewis and Councilman Grady Hester for their years of service as council members at the Executive Board meeting Monday, December 5 with a plaque and well wishes from others.
Mayor Wesley Meiss said the city would like to bestow a plaque to each of the outgoing councilmembers for their dedicated service to the city. He gave them each a boxed plaque and thanked them for their years as councilmen.
Councilwoman Pat Lunsford said both Lewis and Hester were "great team players" throughout the years. She said team work is important while serving the people of Milton and both councilmen were excellent and she wished them well. Lunsford also said she is looking forward to working with the new council.
Councilwoman Mary Ellen Johnson agreed with Lunsford and said she also wanted to express appreciation for their dedication towards the continued growth of the city. She said, "Both were men of wisdom."
Newly appointed Councilwoman Sharon Holley said while she worked at the city as an employee, both councilmen's doors were always open. "They are kind and generous," she said.
